That'll teach me not to play for 4 seasons.

I think I have the award for last place finishers, is there one ?

Looks like I'll be heading down the handicap route with my flat horses again this season. Best effort was probably Raging Buffalo who was given too much to do in race 9. My jumps team looks more promising with a few of them at least showing some signs of ability. Good runs from Fairy King, Daylight Robbery and Sea Pigeon.

Congrats to all winners and placers.

Post Re: Weekly Reaction
I hardly play my flat game, mostly concentrate on jumps and day 1 on the flat went about as I expected, with most of my runners finishing well down the field, although I did manage a 6th place in race 6 with my 2yo filly. Most should get a nice handicap, so roll on the handicap races.

The jumps went better, a 2nd, 2 x 4ths and a 5th place, the rest finished about midfield, except for a couple of pull-ups in the distance races.

The ground conditions were the opposite to how I trialled my horses. I trialled the flat horses on good ground and my jumpers on soft ground and the going is mostly the opposite way around for week 1.

It is great to be finally underway and I hope everyone gets as much enjoyment out of the league as I do. I get out of bed early on race days, about 6am, just so I can see how my horses did before I have to go out in the morning.

Finally, congratulations to all the winners and placers and the great commentators.

Monday Race Reaction:

Flat:

Crystalline - Ran well enough in this class for his 7th place, may flirt with G3 with this one.

Sea of Tranquility- My top 3yo mile colt, this 15th place no show dispels any illusions of this years classics.

Fine Puzzle - One to give me some interest in the shorter distances, expectations met with a faded 16th.

Burst of Energy - My top 3yo mile filly, 11th pretty much to expectations, was going to ditch my 3yo's at week 5 for 2yo or 5yo flat, but day one leaves me thinking I'd be better off addressing the jumpers.

Jump:

Disposing Quiz - have aspirations of the champion hurdle with this fella, his 2nd here has done nothing to dampen that thought.

Casual Mist - one of two in consideration for the world hurdle, needs to find a little more at the finish, pleasing enough 4th opening.

The mentalist - one from my crazy (full quirk line) originally from 'The Estate' who runs later in the week. Disturbingly decent over the fences at 3 miles, though you can never tell which horse your going to get. 3rd place today was clearly in a sane sort of mood.

The Stunner - she nearly got up for my first win, short headed to 2nd. Remains in my thoughts for the supreme novice.

Gloria Slap - not so glorious today with a disappointing 13th one for whom the handicaps may offer more mileage.

Slim Chance - fancied at 3 miles plus, down at the first today leaving me none the wiser.

Coconut Shy - did not show her usual turn of foot and stayed on for 7th, I hope for better things to come.

Rambling Rebel - late team choice and 7th today leaves questions still.

Indian Summer - thought she had this one in the bag until clattering through the last and nearly parting company with her passenger, dropping back to 7th more to come.

Xternal - stable also ran, handicaps cannot come soon enough.

Josh

My first ever jumps entry "Last Ben" was going well and got me pumped til he fell, got me thinking i might do fairly well this season, then by the end of the day i am back to thinking wooden spoon is mine lol
Great fun watching though :)

I'm just glad to be here and any winner will be a good winner for me this year. I've not breed many horses( life gets in the way sometimes) at all this year so I'll be happy with any winner or place efforts my horses get. Up until 2 weeks ago there wasn't going to be a flat team.

NH Jumps

Beresford Girl 3rd happy enough with that.
Angelina Ballerina 8th a shocking run perhaps my 3 milers are average like last year.
Farfromblonde 1st my 2m hurdlers are my best part of my team like last season.

Flat

Unexpalained 1st, it's good to get a win and a nice dirt horse.

Most Welcome 1st, probably the biggest shock winner I've ever had, he must be over a year old and is not even a Ghostzapper stables horse. He was only the second best 7f horse from last season.

Tedburrow 2nd, well happy with him.

Love Returning 3rd, and another good performance from my 2yo.

Silver Wizard 3rd, hopefully pick up a race.

Lochsong 1st, this is probably as good as it gets.

Totally shocked at how my flat team ran, wasn't expecting much. Just glad I changed my mind at the last moment.

9 horses of mine ran on Monday for a return of $200 dollars in prize money. I wanted crummy first races so I can ply the handicap route later on. My least thought of horse ran the best race therefore totally ruining his mark all year.

As mentioned in an earlier thread the form in TOM is messed up. It shows my Monday starters with a win and and a bunch of seconds. I can confirm that my horses stink and they did NOT have any top 3 finishes.

it seems my horse that came in 22nd says 2nd and my 14th shows 4th i assume the first number is removed where each should be 0 makes mine look half decent :D
