Week 6 - Monday
FlatSolent Green - 7th Not G1 class, just wanted a day out at Ascot.
Closing Gap - 15th or not closing the gap at all, though I suspect his bolting on the way to the post did for him before it began.
Podgies Boy - 3rd continues to stay all day, but his pace, well he does not really have any pace.
Love Nor Money - 10th Wide run did not aid her cause, but she is not star so I doubt it mattered
Fine Puzzle - 10th never going to feature in a G3
Hugh Jengine - 16th Poor run in what is arguably his ability group, bit of a head scratcher.
High Tide - 3rd settled at the back early and finished with a real flourish, but had left herself an awful lot to do.
JumpDominion of Saints - 3rd G1. Good run in this class, closed nicely at the finish but set off too late to really threaten in this company.
Slim Chance - 1st really fancied his chances, given he was favourably weighted, did not disappoint. Stalked the filed from last until 5f out and turned on the jets, nearly ran out of puff, but fantastic to watch.
Kiss My Tail - 6th Naive run on her debute, though in what is arguably a strong field with some new entries who look decent. Ran last and challenged wide, making it hard for herself when she did have a run at the end. More to come I think
Emergence - 3rd G1 - Another good run from this perpetual bridesmaid, always consistent and in the money. Was a little snatchy today and took it on at 2f, but got swallowed up by better horses on the day. Think he'll find the winners enclosure eventually.
Chess - 4th G1 - Decent enough run, was right in the mix, before running wide at the last bend and sheding a load of ground, also seemed to lose her action a little, rallied back at the death but her chance was gone, and Sally Army is an awfully good horse.
Eye of the Storm - 11th Ran as she should and I cannot really find fault, challenged at 2f but faded badly and somewhat uncharacteristically, I assume under the weight, somewhat disappointing
Xternal - 17th Still recovering from his win in the eyes of the handicapper, but still ran well below his ability today, was a little snatchy also. Poor showing
Great White Hope - 1st Much like last week, he stayed in touch, then closed in and out stayed the leaders, with a little extra turn of foot to just sneak up. Expect the handicappper will now get him, so will look to graded races. But delighted with him regardless.
The Estate - 4th this was a weird one, and I am not sure why it was not re-run given at least three or four horses had a spell when they did not jump anything (can they fall and stumble during that obvious glitch I wonder?) and I noted this inclued both the 1st and 2nd horses, though from top trainers yards so may not have altered anything. Not such an issue for me as he was simply not good enough, but odd and screwy in equal measure. I'd be disappointed if Vroom Vroom King was my horse.
National Sensation - 2nd Ran really well, staying strongly whilst giving away a lot of weight and very nearly got up at the end. Likely to carry a heavy burden in the national at this rate, though he is overdue a couple of falls.
