Post Silks for the League
I notice that several trainers are using very similiar silks in the league and I thought I might try and create a unique set of silks for my horses to use in the next league and not use one of the sets of silks that come as standard with the game.

I have created a couple of sets of silks and wonder if anyone is using or planning to use anything similiar. If you use something similiar, please let me know.

When I was creating the silks I started putting stars and circles in them, but they do not show up very well during a race, so I opted for more solid colours.

Maybe the stars should have been bigger.

This touches on a subject that I think needs to be discussed.
I believe in the league only that trainers should only have one set of silks for their stables.
We should not have three sets of silks with only a different cap colour as well.

This would also make the job a little easier for the callers and would help us to enhance our calls.

Not sure how it would be done but the silks provided for TOM should over ride the silks from the single player game.

When I was altering the silks I couldn't find any instructions on the forums so it was done with experimentation. I managed to create these silks, black leggings and blue boots.

I suspect there are those who would object to drastic colours in the league, but I quite like this new set of silks,

I already use my colours in my game, so sometimes If I have a horse when I run my races it could be in ghostzappers colours.

Post Re: Silks for the League
Something I noticed when I was running league races last night.

I had edited 5 different sets of silks to try them out and see what they looked like in a race, but when I ran the first race yesterday I saw a horse running in one of the sets of silks I had edited and then a horse in the second race I ran was in another one of the silks I had edited.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I suspect that it does not matter what silks you exported your horse using, you will get whatever silks the racerunner has installed on their computer.

After the first two races I re-installed the games original silks and no more of my edited silks appeared in races.

This could have just been a coincidence but I doubt it.

I put some effort and thought into creating a set of unique silks for next seasons league horses but if they are not exported with the horse and imported into the racekit with the same colours I am very disapointed.

Is anyone else using customised silks and noticing they are different in league races?

If your horse appears in a different set of silks in flat races 1 & 2, I am sorry for the mix-up.

I had steve (teleprompter) make me my own silks the one I use on Tom and here and I used them in my game and exported them with my horses in Season 1 and only appeared on races I run this is why Doug and I asked Mark if it was possible to have a way to make our silks within the game and he said it wasn't has it meant a lot of work and it would be impossible.

The only way is every trainer in the league have one made by someone and we all use the same Silks within the game then all our silks would be downloaded with the horse files and race runners would have every ones silks.

How would we organise this, Gray?
What issues would we need to overcome?
Could we organise this for next season as a trial for SO7?

The problem with this is that trainers colours get swapped. When a few races got run with telex colours I got weird varied colours for my horses. I always play with same colours in game and my silks are the same I know they pretty boring but my horses are easy to spot

Nothing boring with your silks, Leon - but there is another trainer with the same silks and another trainer with a lighter blue silks. My silks - all cerise/red - Thunderspark has a few runners with the same silks. Grey's silks are the same as another trainers but different cap colour. Season one of SO6 for example - my old colours gold/brown black sleeves and cap were the same as Darren Howells but from memory he had a gold/brown cap and another trainer had the same silks as well except a white cap. Martin's colours - all purple are the same as another trainer and there are more as well.
Maybe it stands out to me because I'm doing comms but I think it would be good if each league trainer had one set of silks only with less clashing.

Only thing you could do:

You show all silks here and every trainer chooses a different one and starts to use it in all his games.

Silks: Forum name/Online league name

Wished for a long time a list where you could see which forum member belongs to which OL stable, still can't connect everyone always!

Sadly I am a little to blame with the confusion of more than one silk as I did go through a period of using odd silks for different distances & games, so my apologies, prob more to Martin as he prob noticed, as I did, not many purple silks running so I started to use them at the same time as himself, hence we have both in some races, soz Martin.... I am nearly all back to my white/grey colours...

I like Moilets suggestion :D

It could be done, perhaps everyone could either pick one or two different silks. I done a load of new ones, well I did the big pictures but could never work out the small pics, colours like gigginstown and ricci. We would need someone to come up with one file so we all could put it in our computers.

No problem mate, I was using the purple silks in my game long before I even knew the league existed and was very surprised no one was using them already especially as in the UK single colour silks are more prestigious and can no longer be registered with Weatherby's unless you pay a huge premium. I did not realise you could change the colours of your silks mid game until Doug told me last week but already exported horses stay in their original colours I believe so that would be no good. I started a second game and used the all orange silks in that as I thought no one was using them but am sure I have seen them on another horse this season.

Agreeing to use unique game silks from S07 would be a good idea as current trainers could choose them before the game is released if we knew which ones were included prior to release. However, this would not prevent clashes later as new people joined as their games would have already started. People will usually use silks of their favourite horse/trainer/owner etc so their wil always be clashes.

I am guessing this is more of an issue to us commentators to the trainers. If totally unique silks cannot be implemented then using just one or two for your whole string would be pretty helpful instead.

Post Re: Silks for the League
Well these are the silks I want for my stable. Orange, purple sleeves and black cap - these colours were carried by the famous Australian racehorse Bernborough. Google him and read his story but these are the colours that I want :-)

Somehow we have to make it that if a trainer wants to join the league, they have to submit their silks for registration. We could even have a pinned topic where all registered trainers silks are displayed. Also show trainers that haven't re-registered and their silks are available and also silks that are locked to show respect for a trainer that competed for an x period of time or who also contributed to the league in a manner that helped advance it. ie Gray for example.

I know Mark has said it is a problem to be able to customise silks in game but from memory he did mention a third party might be a viable option.

Another example today when I did calls is another trainer has almost the same silks as Hollywood Hinton - when I see pink as the caller I'm thinking Hollywood - but now I am thinking wtf and I am curtailing my call. Some horses names stick out in the memory bank like Lochsong or Bombay Barman but the league doesn't mirror real life racing as horses come and go in a 12 week window but the silks will remain the same and I know that at the furlong that the three horses that are fighting for the win belong to X, Y and Z trainers and hopefully all the trainers watching the race will recognise the silks as well or at the very least be thinking - 'who owns those silks....that's gotta be an upset' :-)
