Post How quickly do stallions + mares detoriate over time?
How quickly do stallions + mares detoriate (thus negatively impacting their offspring) over time in SO7? I noticed in SO6 is happened fairly quickly, but was wondering if the same issue persisted in SO7. Does a 15 year old broodmare still produce horses as good as when she was 5 years old?

In the breeding barn a stallion or mare will always breed to the best of their bars the whole of their life. Unfortuneately, the randomness of breeding does not always make this apparent.

I have had 20yo mares and stallions breeding G1 winners.

Hope this helps

I saw that you were thinking about joining the league, remember to start your save in League Mode, horses bred in a standard save are not eligible for the league.

Next tip: Vinny, Josh, John and myself have added tips about the best way to start a league save to various posts. Unfortuneately these tips are scattered over several threads. Do a search on the online forum for my name or one of the others and you should find some useful stuff.

The three most important bars are potential, extra speed and cruising burst for a flat save, they probably contribute 97% of how a horse runs. The other bars are nice to have but not essential. If you want to succeed in the league you must find one gamebred stallion with at least 85% potential as a yearling, another stallion with 90% extra speed and another with 75% cruising burst. If you don't find these three bars within the first 5 years of a save, abandon the save and start again.

Check out the start of this thread, it is for NH but same applies to flat

I agree with most of what Jim says but I'd say u need to find a horse with 92%+ potential ( its a massive pain otherwise) and I'd go to 10 seasons where Jim would go to 5.

I'm not sure if u want to breed flat horses or jumpers but if u start a uk jumps game the stallions are totally pants, breed with the overseas stallions. A bit less so on the flat, but still try to use the overseas stallions.
