Once again, not much to cheer on, Doom Of Dartmoor went close in the 0-70 and possibly has a race in him at that level. Leipzig Lady ran well in the 2yo Maiden again and could possibly be another one that may reach listed/group level

My 2 yos were a bit of an afterthought from all my old horses from my previous game I abandoned. Wasn't expecting much, but nice result. Laschak Maaschine is a 1m horse technically, so the massive field over 7 will have likely helped.
Emerald Speel is now 2 from 2 over 2miles. I really do not get this. I wrote down useless on my racecard 1 for Dubai an he won easy, then again with a 6lb penalty he's won again. It's quite bizarre. He was about 5th choice to enter the league 2 seasons ago, then 3rd choice for last season, an I haven't touched that game. Answers on a postcard as I thought he'd likely get in the Melbourne cup off a low weight an have a squeak.
My5f horses look a different class at the minute. Silly Little Style giving all that weight away was very unlucky. I fancy Sluggish Tigress will pick up races over 5 an 6 this season Well if that was the plan then i think u should stick to it, give us all a chance with low weights in the Cup Some horses are just league horses, u just cant explain it. Thats one of the good things about the game, the unknowns. Its like when u think u have two horses who are equal in u trials and yet one can be rated 20 pounds higher in the league. Another winner on the flat I love my little stayers, glad i started a flat game. Wow that was possibly my best day over jumps in years. My Chasers have always been nice bunch but im over the moon with my hurdlers, i split my chasers/hurdlers straight away because of the stallions in the overseas breeding barn at the start of the game. I have done a lot less breeding with them( probably 50% less) but its nice to see them competing with the best hurdlers. It was nice to finally see a stayer Tullamarine stay the 4m4, if he didn't stay then i didn't have an out and out stayer in my game. It was nice to see Green win, i had a dilemma that took all week to decide, do i run him in the grade 1 in france or do i run him over his proper distance , i probably picked the right one over his best distance. He's my most intriguing horse because he's by last years grade 1 winner Unioniste and by a mare that was not good enough to get into last seasons team. So he's got old parents but hes my best bar horse( that's why i gave him Greenbank Park), i bred him after my trials( going back and messing around) . So How good will he be Talking about bringing horses back , if we do have another season then a few of mine would comeback. Thanks everyone who gives their time to make the league. Stu u sounded very posh when saying Santas Concerto

Good couple of days for me with 3 winners on the flat so far and both were winners lto, so going for the treble next week. Still a few to come this evening with chances with the first legs of the AW qualifiers (which my horses appear to handle at home) but as John says above, you just never can be sure which horses will click in the league, although I have nothing clicking like the elite boys. Well done to all those that make the effort to post their thoughts, good or bad. The team as usual, bravo! Quote: Stu u sounded very posh when saying Santas Concerto I couldn’t seem to rid my head of a Spanish version doh!. I can say "concerto" quite normally at home with a "ch" Maybe next time, but dont go holding your breath now its in my head

Finally something to cheer with Titanfall's 3rd in the Sydney Cup, all but confirming his promise as the best in my stable and taking home a fair wedge of prize money. Melbourne is the aim, with possible cracks at Ascot Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup along the way as he's pretty versatile trip wise.
Crocodile Tears, World Government on the flat and Home Imptovements NH all managed top 5s too.

A mixed bag and mixed emotions for me.
The flat still largely underwhelming, although a second place for Delta Blues (albeit distant one) in the Kentucky Derby (well done Jim) was a highlight and a surprise. The lowlight was the injury to Pleasant Chance in the Sydney Cup, think she would have been in the mix, still every cloud, at least her handicap hasn't increased.
Not as prolific over the jumps this week but a number of horses were running at the wrong distances due to lack of races to run in. Still managed a few wins including my first Grade winner, Highly Recommended, so very happy with that and the whole NH stable. Currently sitting 3rd in the trainer's table - hopefully I can keep the pressure on John and Josh.

Poor day for me, but with not much running. Continue to be frustrated by Spectacular Cadou who has disappointed again in the maiden. Still think he has a few big performances in him. Pretty tight at the top there, makes it all interesting. No idea why I've had so many less runners than everyone, I'm running where I can
Congrats to all winners, an thanks to all Race runners, Comms an Alex

Re: Season 17 Trainers Post Race Discussion and Thoughts
Great week for me with 5 winners on the flat which puts me 4th in the trainers table behind the big three. Just the one winner on the jumps, Paix Thatch in the Glenfarclas handicap. Although some of my NH horses are poor they're not quite bad enough for Hunter chases so maybe low weights in the handicap races might do the trick, if not it's the glue factory for them.

Congrats to all winners, an thanks to all Race runners, Comms an Alex Might be wrong Vinny but it may be the balance of your stable. You have 5 x 2yo I have 2, you have 5 x 3yo I have 12 x 3yo, all the rest are 4yo I think the balance of races in the first six weeks tends to have more 3yo races, the Classics etc.. whereas after week 6 there are more races that are 3up and 4yo.

Re: Season 17 Trainers Post Race Discussion and Thoughts
Not many runners today, but one winner, a big one, Classic Action winning the Kentucky Derby.
Martin mentioned going for a triple crown in his commentary, this shows my lack of real racing knowledge, it's something I never gave any thought to. I had to search the web to find the names of the races. I will enter Classic Action in the Preakness next week and see what happens. I suspect that the 1m 4f Belmont would be too far for him.
I uploaded two horses specifically for the Derby but neither one has shown any real form in the first 3 weeks but in the last race of the week Ash's horse, Compton Rose, showed he could be a real contender.
Congrats to the winners and a big thanks to the comms team.

Jim Only one horse has won our Triple Crown and guess what his name was Perhaps u guessed it yes it was the Mighty Ghostzapper My Fav flat horse of All Time. That was one horse i had to get right. My major regret was not bringing him back as a 4yo U got to go for it if u win the Preakness. I think Paul got close a couple of times as well.

Running two stables is a massive achievement, wherever u are in the league. If we have another season I'd say pick u best to improve. I'm not sure when I tried to have two teams on the go, it might have been at the start of 7 or it might have been in 6. I'm not whinging about this week it was great to see my top 2 4m4 horses stay. It might be the first time in the whole of SO7. I'm looking forward to see what happens in the AW championships. BTW the flat h'capper was right about Ghostly Spirit , giving him 108 rating. I thought he was the worst ratted horse in the league because all my other stayers are about 80-85 . It goes to show how some horses are different in the league.

I guess it's just a persons perspective about how good or bad your horses have performed. I know I posted stuff about wanting to win and I do but once you get to the point where your horses are very competitive you start to look for more and more success. Sometimes you forget about how such comments affects other people.
There were many unsuccessful years for me in the league and your comment about horses being too highly rated in h'caps and too low for group races was a situation I felt I was in about 6 or 7 seasons ago. There are very few races in the league for horses rated between 100 and 110. I always felt there should be more handicap races for these horses with lower limits set on the races, maybe set h'cap limits to 90 - 110.
There has always been a small elite group of trainers at the top of the log but the majority of trainers are in the middle of the log with a few near the bottom. It's why I have put up posts about restructuring the races. 39 races a week, I think about 9 races should be for the elite or those aspiring to join the elite, 20 races for the middle group and 10 races for the low to middle group of trainers.
Lastly, as John says, trying to run two stables on limited time is very difficult. I used to do this but eventually chose to concentrate on the flat.

But just remember Paddy Power paid out on the mighty blues getting relegated before Christmas and we ended up well ahead of a certain disaster team of arrogant under achievers from round the corner. Didn't we Stu. And lets not forget to mention the famous North London bottlers being cheered on in the valleys. I'll be back so watch out Yeah throw in the towel now........ It wont do you any harm being at the bottom of the comms and Gray table for a change Still along way to go, and the marks tend to be a little all over the place first 2-3 weeks as hard for the handicapper to really gauge what a horses level is, but they will pan out and you'll b back to winning ways, patience old boy! Sure you’re not just moaning to try and tug the heart strings of the handicapper ? Day 3 was atrocious for me, nothing showed on the AW which was disappointing, but by far my best start in the flat league ever and I still complain about marks Looks like AW league will just be a carbon copy more or less of the main league table looking at the numbers.
