yeh but i dont think every trainer should have a horse in every single race
25 is more than enough for a stable size

I disagree!!
Am thinking more about the ground for certain horses, than the stable size.
With 30 gives a nice balance from good and soft ground horses

Why shouldn't a trainer have a horse in every race?
I certainly would like to have has many horses in races as possible.

Have to agree with craig here, considering the increase in races. You shouldn't really limit the trainer too much since it will be hard enough to enter group racing since the field size is limited to 14 or something with the best rated horses getting in. So maybe a happy medium of a stable size of 27 or 28?
Cheers

Is there going to be a limit on how many runs a horse can have in a season? stable size should be taken into account if this is the case.

Is the stable size going to be 25 and 6 retirements?
thought retirements were zero as the upload window is only for the first couple of weeks so whats the point in retiring if you cannot replace the horse? So many things being said about all this stuff regarding the league thought Rich was going to post the rules and regulations regarding everything so everyone knows where we are at. Any Idea?

I also think 30 would be better with no more uploads after week 2
no point in having retirements too

Thought this was at around the 10 runs mark so they miss two weeks racing but dont think this was decided on completely still in discussion i think.

I was fine with 25 but a few more would not hurt, specially as no new horses will be added through the season by new trainers. Think we may need a few weeks to get uploads done anyway, gives all a chance to see the start date and get horses entered, not sure how often some people check the boards, want as few people to miss out as possible.

8 runs in 12 weeks sounds good, gives the chance to some horses who constantly finish 2\3 to a winning horse to win when it is not placed in a race for the week.

So David just to clarify again - all I have done is prepare the basics for the new season - Rich or someone else will need to configure the season according to whatever is agreed will be the (business) rules for the season.
This includes the dates.
To put it another way, nothing should be assumed to be final on TOM until Rich says so.

It should be ready to go in 18 days, I may extend this to get the maximum number of participants. Given the upload window will only be 2 weeks long I think people will need at least 2 weeks heads up of the exact start date as well.
On the number of horses issue, yes it would be great to have a representative in every single race however this isnt necessarily fair. For instance, if the stable size was bigger last year Scatters would have won practically every race in the first instance. Having to pick and choose your runners makes it fairer. On the other side of the coin we want races to have a lot of runners as, lets face it, it's more fun.
Currently I am thinking of keeping it at 25 for week 1 then increasing it to 30 in week 2 if there is demand (i.e most people have used their full allotment). Fair?

i think 25 is fine for the whole nhc season rich but yeh the way you suggest could be ok
i just dont think its realistic for a trainer to have a horse in every single race each week, horse racing doesnt work like that!!
i think if u get the schedules uploaded to TOM and open the window then two weeks on saturday is plenty time for people to get their horses uploaded. so start date would be the 4th June
