Hi Mike,

Horses don't actually start with a rating. So in effect it hasn't gone up at all, just been given it's rating on the basis of its performance in that race.

Will check it has the correct rating and get back to you.

Steve

Basically I rated the race as a G1 by mistake, so ratings are too high by five lbs in some cases. Will redo and send on new ratings to Kenny this week.

Your horse would still be rated 114, so it wouldn't make any difference in terms of placement.

But it is a mistake and will be changed this week

Thanks

Guessing it is because it is a Group 1 race, and your horse is an older horse and Fun Colours is a 3yo filly, hence the weight for age & sex allowance.

Hi Duke

It caught be the sex there both fillies maybe 3lb for Wiqaaya for being an older filly but in the Prince Of Wales Zahoo is older than Beautiful Jade but Zahoo dont give her weight for age.
I dont understand handicaping that good so im just asking so in future i do know.

Thanks

They are both Group 1 races but the big, and only difference, is the Golden Jubilee is 3yo+ and the Prince of Wales is 4yo+. There is no weight for age in a 4yo+ race.

Males carry 3lbs more. 4yo+ carry 6lbs more than 3yo in 3yo+ Group 1's

So in all Group 1 races every horse starts with 9 stone, 9 0.

In a 3yo+ Group 1 horses which are 4yo or more carry an extra 6lbs, raising it to 9 6 like Wiqaaya, and males carry another 3lbs so 3yo male carries 9 3 and a 4yo+ male carries 9 9 like Manner of Speaking in that race.

Sara Horizon is a 3yo filly so carries no extra weight.

Killbox is a 3yo colt so carries the extra 3lbs for being a male

Wiqaaya is an older(4yo+) female so just has the age penalty

Manner of Speaking is a 4yo male so carries both the older horse penalty, 6lbs, and the male penalty of 3lbs so carries 9 9.

Hope this helps?

Hi Keith

Thanks for that mate that helps great but that just means loading up 4yo's is a waste of time they can never win a G1 or G2 they carry to much weight, i wish i would of known before there was going to be another season i would have loaded her up as a 2yo this season & as a 3yo next oh well my fault.

Thank u
GL at Ascot Keith

Im not sure its a waste of time, for a start there a lot of Group 1 races which are 4yo's+. Prince of Wales being one, though im not sure why the Gold Cup and Cadran are 3yo+ in the league?

Also when you trial your horses i wouldn't be surprised if the 4yo Wiqaaya beat the 3yo Wiqaaya? I get mixed results from this, but couldn't say the 3 or 4yo's are definitely better, others might have different opinions?

And yeah we all learn a lot from the league and it can only help us next season. I want this current season to go on and on but also cant wait for the next one as I've bred so much more and am producing better horses. At least you can breed Wiqaaya with all your fillies that are suitable!

And good luck to you mate, and where abouts in Thailand are you if you dont mind me asking?

I'm sure Steve doesn't adjust for weight for age and sex, a group 1 winner is rated 125 and the others are rated in there finishing order in that race, if a horse is rated say 118 before the race and finishes down the field its rating in the race would be 110 but it will only be dropped 3lbs to 115, as Steve has said in the pasted horses rating will be up quickly if they are in group races but they will come down slowly.

If have a look at this maiden race from week 1 http://www.sopl.info/sopl/tom10/view-results.php you will see the winner is a colt rated 100 and the 2nd is a filly rated 98 the 3rd is a colt rated 96, there is no sex allowance. if Steve did adjust for age and sex it would take up more of his time.

Yeah I saw that. I am travelling through Thailand and possibly Cambodia, Laos on my to Vietnam next Spring. I worked for a charity who ran a swimming program in Hue, Vietnam. I had no idea that 95% of the population couldn't swim, its seems like something that is easy to fix? They are hoping to convince other charities to take it all across Asia. Anyway not to go too off topic I might ask for some advice on where to go in Thailand in the new year.

Cheers.

I would like to bring to attention the run of the Keith Beaky trained Up High at Haydock. I think its clear that jockey instructions have been purposely altered in an attempt to pull the wool over the stewards eyes so to speak. Surely this is bringing the league into disrepute?

I concur, throw Keith out and ban him indefinitely! We dont need trainers like that in the league. This is one of those cases which makes you wonder why we abolished capital punishment.
