Any fans/followers of Hong Kong Racing
I'm wondering if there are any followers of Hong Kong racing on here?
We sell quite a few horses to race over in HK from here in Aus and from Europe so I keep a keen eye on the racing scene. Just wondering if anybody else did.

Don't really like it myself as they don't have any homebreds, but I can understand the appeal to some as its on the whole effectively high class betting fodder.

Re: Any fans/followers of Hong Kong Racing
Yeah it's a shame about the homebreds. The way it's set up though - only two tracks, limited number of trainers/horses leans more towards betting and racing which is the focus over there.
Akeed Mofeed, for anyone that's interested, will be aimed at the lucrative 4yo Series which incorperates the Classic Mile G1 (1600m), the Classic Cup G1 (1800m) and the Hong Kong Derby G1 (2000m).

Gold-Fun (former Strada Colorato) gets his first win at his second start in HK winning easily over a mile by 2L.

Re: Any fans/followers of Hong Kong Racing
Akeed Mofeed made his debut in Hong Kong last night with an eye catching 3rd but it should have been more. Jockey Doleuze had decided to try and gain a run up the inside of the leader when he thought it would shift out under pressure. While looking for this run he failed to see the gap developing on the outside. When the run on the inside didn't materialize Doleuze steadied Akeed Mofeed, switched outside and hit the line very strongly. Replay of the race http://racing.hkjc.com/racing/video/play.asp?type=replay-full&date=20130112&no=10&lang=engTaken from the stewards report: After considering the circumstances of this matter, O Doleuze was severely reprimanded and advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he had erred in failing to remain alert to and assessing all the options available to him at this time including the run that was clearly developing between KING OF REASON and FULFIL A WISH.Richard Gibson (Trainer) had informed me that Akeed Mofeed wasn't 'wound up' yet so he was extremely pleased with way he hit the line and he will now map a path to the Derby to have him rock hard for that race.

Re: Any fans/followers of Hong Kong Racing
Gold-Fun (Strada Colorato) will contest the Group 1 Classic Mile on the 20th January 2013 (this coming weekend). After two consecutive strong, relatively easy wins over the distance Gold-Fun is expected to run very well. The Classic Mile is the first race in the lucrative 4yo series which includes the Classic Cup (1800m) and culminates in the Derby (2000m). It is expected Gold-Fun should contest all three of these races.

I should note that most, if not all, the horses I talk about in here I have an association with. That's why it may seem that I'm only talking about a few horses. Also a few are former Europeans and I thought some people on here might like to keep track of how they're going in Honkers.
