Not a bad day anyday if you get a winner at Cheltenham so it started so well in The Supreme Novices Hurdle When Once Upon a Time second win this season Named after a Brilliant Album of the 80's won but downhill after that I knew the first days Racing would be the hardest so glad he popped up knew he would go close Niembro run well for a while but the defeat of Long Oarsman 3rd was my big hope of the day.

Post Re: National Hunt : Talk Reaction Banter
a good start to the week for my runners at Cheltenham

R1 Inconsequential (5th) - good effort. travelled well for a long way but was a bit one-paced from the home turn.
R2 Tunes (3rd) - had every chance jumping the last but got outrun by 2 better horses.
R3 Grecian Urn (8th) - trip was too short and got outpaced running down the hill. ran on from the last. solid effort.
R4 Penny Pincher (2nd) - great run. going as well as anything turning for home, then the winner went past like she was standing still. 2nd year running one of my horses has been runner-up in the Champion Hurdle. maybe next season!
R5 Savage Island (F10) - now wishing I'd let Golden Mile try and win the race for a 2nd time.
R6 Costume Fetish (8th) - trip was too short and prefers the bigger obstacles. got stuck behind a weakening rival at the 2nd last, lost ground and momentum and never really recovered. may have finished a bit closer with better luck in running.
R7 Glint Of Gold (U11) - got rid of his jockey at the 4th last.
R8 Time Charter (1st) - my banker of the week goes in and it was never in much doubt. once she got on terms with the leaders approaching the 2nd last she was always going to win.
R10 Mr Prospector (9th) - decent effort trying to carry 12 0. he gave up the unequal struggle from the home turn and will return to group races next time. credit to Paul's horse True Swiss who finished 3rd under 11 5. that was a massive effort.

well done all winners and placers.

Cheltenham Day One....

Zod Meister (15th) - Beat one home in the Supremes. Was never going to figure
Champ In Trouble (7th) - Slightly disappointing, would he had a great chance
Zod (17th) - Last in the Champion Hurdle. Never likely to be in the money but still a disappointing run
Galaxy Role (Fell) - Fell at the second
Jet Lag (10th) - Just a poor horse
Champion Snake (8th) - Pretty good performance in the Neptune
Theodore (8th) - Steady showing from way out of the handicap

Show good performances but no horse in the money, hoping for better to come.

Well done to G Moore for having the Champion Hurdler

Great day for me winning the last 2 races Salesman showed its class but gave me a fright by smashing into the last! He really likes the 3 miles at Cheltenham. My horses really enjoy good or better ground so hope for some good or firmer at Aintree or Punchestown. Penalty ran like a dog the first two races but the upside was that left the horse well handicapped for Cheltenham and it romped home off bottom weight.

Well done all winners and placers and thanks to the staff :D

R11 Lost Patrol (3rd) - decent effort. didn't have the pace of 1st and 2nd from before the last fence.
R12 Miles To Go (5th) - keen early and never gave himself a chance of staying the distance. beaten a long way out. disappointing.
R14 Lone Soldier (1st) - ridden with a bit more restraint running down the hill than I hoped for, but he managed to get a slight lead and was able to fend off all challengers up the straight. great efforts from the first 5 and any one of them would have been a worthy winner.
R15 Frankenfurter (4th) - solid effort. was hoping he could make the frame but wasn't good enough today.
R16 Humble Spirit (11th) - he just wasn't on a going day and ran a shocker.
R17 Silent Running (1st) - he was my main champion hurdle hope at the start of the season but his only win before today had been in a 2m3f G2 chase. he only ran here because I couldn't find an alternative race for him and thought I might as well have a runner. he won the race by doing what I expected Lone Soldier to do and kicked for home running down the hill to the 3rd last, got a few lengths on the field and managed to hang on up the hill. absolutely chuffed to bits.
R18 Sonic Glory (8th) ran ok but was always going to struggle to get up the hill. made a bad mistake at the last flight which didn't help. will be much more suited by Aintree next week.
R19 Tumbledown Wind (3rd) - jumping was a bit sticky at times and made a bad mistake at the 4th last that cost him a fair bit of ground. great effort to make the frame from such an unpromising position at the top of the hill.
R20 Show Boat (8th) - ran ok. I thought the trip might suit better than 3m but he still got outpaced running down the hill. looks like he wants even further.

well done to all winners and placers.
