Post Re: FLAT SCHEDULE 2014
I have no Messages about the first two weeks so trainers must be ok with it I have had a message from above that we only need to tweak a little which is my plan and to put in real names to races where possible.

Ok Week 3 Below

Changes
Out -----These are Name Changes Except P0ntefract Marathon And Paradise Stakes

Grest Metroploitan------ 1m 4f Epsom
Summer Evenings Handicap 7f---Naas
Paradise Stakes 2yo 1m----------------Ascot
Voute Sales Stakes 6f------------Newmarket
Thirsk Bullet 5f------------------Thirsk
Musselburgh Gold Cup 1m 6f-------Musselburgh
Pontefract Marathon 2m 4f ----------Pontefract

In
Nassracecourse.com 7f------------------- Naas------Name Change
Aldermore Maiden Stakes 2yo 7f Fillies --Ascot------Name Change Was Paradise and Now Maiden over 7f
Timeform Harbour Watch H'Cap 6f --Newmarket------Name Change
Mafki Future Stars Maiden Stakes 2yo 7f Colts--- Newmarket------------Added instead of Pontefract Marathon
Follow Totepool On Facebook H'Cap 5f-----Thirsk------Name Change
Your Favourite Pool Bets 1m 6f -------------Musselburgh------Name Change
Bathwick Tyres Bristol H'Cap 1m 4f--------Bath-----Replaces Epsom Great Metropolitan as epsoms meeting is now in week2

*Pontefract Marathon i have put a 2yo maiden race in place but i have increased Ffos Las Stayer's to 2m 3f at the Moment it will be 0-110 handicap i can extend this race up to 2m 5f if trainers would perfer that instead as the distance i think 0-85 Pontefract Marathon was to close to the begining of the season for me The Handicapper to put enough horse's under that rating.

Gray should some of the 4+ h'capps be turned into 3+ races. h'capps are different to group races so its a even playing field. It gives all h'cappers a chance to run in more races if they go to 3+ races.

i think 4 yo & 5yo have become obsolete since horse hit full potential at 3yo

its obviously different for the early g1s like meydan where you need 4yo+

I hope in SO6 it goes back to the way it was because if u got a good three year old now its not worth bringing them back, i'd like to bring flowing back but she would have no chance against the three year olds.

Ghost Trainers want real races and I think age retrictions should be part of the schedule as I have done with the Jumps with 5+ novice Chases etc. but will see what other trainers think about having 3+ and no 4+ handicaps later on.

Managed to Squeeze in Pontefract Marathon Into this week there where a few races left out At Chester and York due to clashes but I think the distance spread is fine with this trainers might want to compare these New Schedules I am putting up this seasons League schedules which you can find on TOM.

U could be right about having the handicaps the way they suppose to be early on but changing them later on so by the end of the season all horses can run in them.

I have not Checked as I am writing ghost but I am sure that all 3yo Handicap races turn into 3+ plus later in the season.

Gray I was wondering could we possibly have a group 1 flat race for the 5 furlong two year olds. That's the only distance that doesn't have a group 1 race to aim for. I have know idea if there's a race in the world that's a group one for 5 furlongs two year olds. I know there's none in Europe or the US and I've had a look at the Australian group races and there none there either. I wonder If any country has a race like it.

I don't think there is a 5F 2yo Group 1 race but could always put a Group 1 6f race but switch it to 5F in week 13 Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill for instance this race happens in April but I think if it is wanted then Week 13 would be best.

That would be good because if u got a 5f 2yo it's best race is the G2 Norfolk at royal Ascot then the only other race is the G2 Flying Childers in week 10 and that's it.

Way too many group races. Three 2000 guineas trials? Needs about 7 more handicaps each week.

It's normally better to have maidens on turf as well

Same again Matt. You cannot post whilst serving a ban.

The schedule needs a lot of discussion before it is decided what to do with it. Have you consulted Jamie on it? A lot of trainers have struggled for suitable races this season, and we have had a lot of horses rated in the 70's and 80's running in Group races because they have no handicaps to run in. We need to cut the Group races by 40-50%, not add more.

I am planning to cut group races matt but you will see that later into the season I agree we need more Handicaps and less Group races like I said and posted before every week is up for discussion but its no good saying to we need 7 more handicaps each week and to cut group races in those weeks what group races do you think should be cut and what Handicap do you want to replace these races with.

It is pointless for me to cut out Group Races and Guineas Trial Races and put in handicaps only for another trainer to say we should keep this group race and that Trial you have always been active in your views on the schedule matt but you are 1 of many a bit more help is always welcomed but I want more views of other trainers and trainers to say we should put say like a 1m 3f handicap in week 3 and take out that race.

Yes more views the better

instead of saying i heard trainer A & B would agree But trainer C disagrees and there are not enough races for trainers D & E
let the trainers speak for themselves they don't need anyone to speak on their behalf

the more views Gray gets on the schedule the more it will help him decide on how to put the finished article together

For me i am happy to go along with the majority and taylor a team to that

so basicly i have no opinion on the sched will be happy what ever is drawn up
