Post Re: Small Build Horses - Secret To Success?
Aussie gate, not even sure why people call it that, didn't even happen. No one used the glitch in the league.

There are quicker ways to breeding better horses but taking them to the next level requires specific breeding methods.

Andy didn't spend as much time as others, but devised far better methods. Most of my league horses were from 2012 so I didn't spend much time breeding last year.

Breeding for the league is the worst thing in so5 and must be changed for so6. Well it's a tie with the racekit.

Paul I cant remember who said it but someone made a remark perhaps a month ago, perhaps it was tongue in cheek.

I know it takes a lot of time to keep up but I've loved it, I know most people hate trailing but I love watching my own horses battle it out.

In a couple of months we will all be rookies again

Been asked before. From the old Yuku forum. What year this is from and what game version I do not know. Steve Coulson writes...

Quote:
Breeding is the most important part of the game (and fun as well like breeding a 2 miler with a 5f sprinter what will you get in a couple of season's time).
Ive just looked through me old paper records and found out Funkmaster's breeding nothing special He came from a filly called Steve's Crown who was average build average distance was 1m2f and liked good ground the father was called Real Onion who was small build average distance 1m2f and liked good ground.
When Funkmaster arrived he was a small built colt who's average distance was 1m2f and liked good ground.
In game Funkmaster earned me £18,686,365(before 5th place prize money).

Topiths came from a filly called Pie In The Sky who was a small build average distance 1m2f and liked 1m2f the stallion was a horse called Topethos who was also a small built horse who's average distance was a mile and also liked good ground.
In game Topiths won 21/29 races picking up £20,009,515 in prize money.Won the Judmonte Stakes at York aged 8.
Only saved her till 5 though:\
So is there an advantage with your horse's build small.average.large? I have tried to train the large built horses and it normally ends up pear shaped:smokin

Paul there's nothing better than winning any race with a horse u spent a lot of hours on.

I hope u gave them 100,000 horses a good home.

found this an interesting read gone thru most of mine and found they are mostly small never really noticed it before as for aussiegate horses in the league I think u can spot em if you look close enough personal choice to use them I chose not to doesn't mean its wrong but if you have to to stay competitive so be it and as for time spent breeding don't get my wife started on that one have changed my name to steve starters-orders by deed poll its double barrelled don't you know.

also found that one of the best horses ive had came out of a game bred x home bred(average) shoot the pot from last season won 2 G1s food for thought as for shortcuts I have none just bred best with best (ck) and gradually improved although this was cut short by andys advice to just breed 3yos with max potential think the shortcut maybe finding a fresh line (gamebred) to keep the lines fresh only theory and I wont be trying now as I am all SO5D out

agree with everything you have said mate good points there
i also took andys advice and just kept breeding 3yo and that cut down some time

Also your point on using gamebreds to freshen lines up (tried it and did not work it was a backward step once you get through several gens in
your breeding its a rarerty that a gamebred will make any difference in my experience it was a big backward step in CK anyway)

I'm with u paul, I tried to use gamebreds to freshen up my flat team and I gave up very early. I've never bred a four year old until the Friday before the league started.

Over the jumps the Bars mean very little but I based my flat breeding on them.

Maybe worth throwing your best lge horses into a uk game and breed a couple gens you could have g1 horses
you have already done the hard work breeding your lge team
would love to see if i am right that your new UK breds would be a couple lengths clear of your USA lge horses

Well I bred a few from my best small builds and raced in the US schedule and came up with some useful horses. No top trialers.

Then I took my best small build sire and my best mare of all-time (average build) and bred them in the UK schedule using my all group 1's schedule. So far I've got 3 killers (out of five foals) who have shaved half a second off my best trial times. Each foal dropped is a small build from the two mixed build parents. I find that interesting because the mare (average build) is by far the more genetically special horse. You'd think she would drop an average build at least once.

Looks like I'll have some handy subs. :)

Sirus I wouldn't take any notice of the lineage charts they are wrong. I had a look at mine and the distances are wrong.
