Post Re: National Hunt talk reaction and banter
Week 6 runners (again!):

Race 5: Marathon Handicap chase: Geraldine II: As long as he is ridden properly; i.e. held up and not allowed to challenge with 2 miles left to run  , he should run well. He is high in the weights after his 4th in a listed chase  , but the extra 2f shouldn't hinder him too much. He is aiming for the GN trial next week.

Race 10: 3m Handicap Hurdle: Oak Ruby Orse: She is high up in the weights on soft ground, but she will hopefully run well. I think I'd prefer her to tail off though so that she gets her rating reduced! She'll stay well and keep running on.

Race 11: Victor Chandler Handicap Chase: Oak San Rose: He should win this barring jumping errors like last time. The course and trip are perfect and even the ground will suit. I'm very hopeful that he can get his second win at Cheltenham in this race. No doubt my being bullish will be his demise, but everything crossed that he jumps the last better than last time.NAP

Race 12: Dipper Novices Chase: Chick II: I'm really pleased with his last run, he has rocketed up the ratings but that doesn't matter in this race. I would expect the 2m5f to be a little too far for him, but if he jumps around then he'll keep battling.

Race 13: Victor Chandler Handicap Hurdle: Oak Crystal Rose: She has run a couple of decent races so her rating is high. Not sure if 2m4f around Cheltenham will suit, but we can only try it and see.

Race 15: Ann Boleyn Mares Graded Hurdle: Oak Diamond Rose: If she jumps around and the jockey doesn't drop her out too far like last time then she'll be there with a shout. 2m4f around Chelts will suit her well and hopefully she can finally pick up a place in a decent race, maybe she could even win it.

Race 16: Welsh National: Oak Blazing Rose and Forest Viking: Both are high up in the weights as the ratings stand right now. Oak Blazing Rose has been disappointing of late, but maybe the step up in trip and heavy ground will help her. Forest Viking comes into this after a win in the Moore's Millions race last week, heavy wouldn't be ideal but hopefully he can follow up with a win or a place here.

Race 18: Cerco Network Handicap Chase: Oak Dancing Rose: Perfect trip, worst possible ground. As long as she isn't dropped out too far she should run well again, but it will all depend upon what she makes of the ground.

Race 19: Pistol N Smoke Handicap Hurdle: Sage II: Heavy shouldn't make too much difference, but it wouldn't be ideal. He is high in the weights after finishing midfield in a 3m graded hurdle, maybe the drop in trip will suit. I honestly don't know, we will have to find out.

Race 20: Donald Trump Handicap Chase: Oak Diamond Currency: She should be able to win this over an ideal trip, but the ground won't suit and the jockey rode awfully last time. If given a better ride and if she doesn't mind the ground she should go very close.

Race 25: Moore's Millions Stayers: Coco Palm: Much like all of his runs, if he doesn't get left behind early he will keep galloping to the finish. Heavy wouldn't be ideal, but it will mean that the others won't run so fast so hopefully he won't get outpaced early.

Wow 2 Grade 1 wins in one week

Mirta Gev took the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton in good style. I was considering retiring her as she hadn't transferred her form from home to the track.

Ahsoka Tano landed the Lexus Chase which was also a bit of a surprise to me as she wasn't my number one 3m horse. I was delighted with the way she won as well.

Isbon tried her best in the Welsh National but the best of my horses cannot cope with top weight. Air Maid almost pulled off the victory for me but found one too good.

Mixed bag from my new uploads Beryllium was 3rd in the KG and will still be aimed at the Gold Cup as she wasn't stopping at the line. Radon and Montevideo ran nice races to finish 2nd. Two of my big new hopes Bayadere and Swan Lakw (got to love my typing of new horse names  ) hopefully will have nice handicap marks after running shockers.

Big thanks to all for getting the league going again and roll on the festival as I have high hopes.

Thanks I'm really enjoying the season so far.

I'm a little surprised at how well it is going as I thought the league was never going to start and so was playing the game using all 10 save solts and then trialing the horses against each other in my own mini league. So I had never got past 10 seasons and most of my horses are first generation home breds or even game breds.

Now of course as a grade one winning trainer 8) the pressure is on to keep producing.

I have played the league since SO2 and the one thing missing from my CV is a Group 1 flat winner . I will have to return to the laboratory to see what I can breed, hopefully some of these league winners will produce something even better.

1 second and 2 fifths for me!

It may not sound much but 2nd is my best result so far and I'm inching closer to that illusive first win.

I thought Troublemaker was going to get up in the Victor Chandler handicap hurdle but had to settle for 2nd.

Bring on next week!

Thanks again to everyone for their hard work running the league and congrats to all winners and placers.

Winners
Name Of The Game - Chuffed to bits to win the King George with a horse I thought would be no better than an average handicapper.
The Mad Monk - A great effort from him to win the gr2 Dipper Nov chase on debut. 2m5f is the absolute limit of his stamina, at least in the ck, so really looking forward to seeing what he can do over 2m4f.
Golden Egg - Something of a mixed bag so far this season but I did think she was well handicapped here and had ground conditions to suit.
Broken Record - I nearly fell off my chair when this one put his head in front in one of the Moores Millions races. He has run like an overburdened donkey in all runs prior to this week from 3mf5 up to 4m1f. I guess it will be back to normal for him from next week.

Runners Up
Fictional Account - I thought she might win at one point but found nothing in the closing stages. Still really pleased with the run.
Rob Roy - Game bred chaser who has done me proud this season. Conditions were far from ideal but he still looked to have another race in the bag until approaching the last and was collared in the closing stages by Preben Fur. Congratulations to ghostzapper on your first league winner.

Honourable Mentions
Flying Boat - 3rd in the Rowland Meyrick
Mr Benn - 3rd in the Victor Chandler Hcp chase
Lord Marshal Kroy - 3rd in the 3m2f MM race. I thought he might catch the first 2 jumping the 2nd last but he was running on empty the last furlong.
Sonar - 3rd in the Chrismas hurdle at Leopardstown. He has never finished out of the frame in all completed starts.
Golden Mile - 4th over 3m3f on debut and will only improve for a step up in trip. Ideally he wants 3m5f as a minimum and could be my main GN hope.
Panic Buy - 5th in the Welsh National.
Blue Peter - 5th in the Juvenile hurdle. He travelled well for a long way until being outpaced from about 3 hurdles out. He's a different proposition over 2m1f and is on course for a tilt at the Triumph hurdle.
Bat In The Belfry - 5th in a 0-120 hcp hurdle. Ran a massive race leading for most of the way and held every chance at the last hurdle.

Others
Mr Prospector - Finished down the field in Christmas hurdle at Kempton. In hindsight I should have run him in the December Festival hurdle instead of Irig. He wants a stiff track and decent going to be competitive at this level over 2m, so was always going to struggle. If he gets the right conditions, he will have a solid EW chance in the Champion hurdle.
Irig - Unseated the rider at the 3rd last in the December hurdle. If there was one horse I expected to win this week it was Irig. I don't know why, but I just had a feeling after a couple of hurdles, that he wasn't going to finish the race.

Debut Grade 1 win for Smoky Black. Great stuff.

NH is a bit of mystery though. It's so hard to trial for... i've had horses win G1s who get thumped by other horses who can't do anything in the league.

Anyone with an unbeaten horse in NH can give themselves a serious pat on the back!

hoping for a better week and think my mare 'champion' will run a massive race in the peter marsh chase. she is an absolute beast at home and dont want to sound over confident but if shes gets a good clear round and decent pace i think she will be different class

Been away from the forum for a few days and just had a chance to watch the races and cannot believe that I managed to bag 5 winners in a week. Absolutely delighted as 3 of these winners were from new uploads which shows the breeding programme is going the right way. Isbon and Silver Charter (carrying top weight) also ran really well.

Cannot quite believe how well the season has gone so far. Cannot wait for the festival in two weeks and to start the banter I have very high hopes for Beryllium in the Gold Cup and cannot wait to see a repeat of the Argento Chase result on the big day!

solid week with 3 winners and most of my horses in the money.
champion - finally this mare has lived up to a bit of the hype i gave her winning the racing post chase. her jumping was terrible in the final mile and made a bad mistake at last but had enough left to hold on for victory. will be aimed for the gold cup and if she can put in a good round i think she has a very good chance of retaining the cup for me
joy- romped home in a handicap race and jumped superbly when it counted
dawn run- this mare has been a nightmare for me so far in the league but has always been rated highly as her name states and she finally got her head in front winning a listed hurdle

Post Re: National Hunt talk reaction and banter
No winners and my immediate reaction was that this was a really bad week, but in hindsight there were some very good runs from my lot:

2nd: The Mad Monk, Pinnochio, Sonar, Mr Prospector
3rd: The Bloody Nine, Kindred Spirit, Mr Benn, Fiddlers Anonymous
4th: Bat In The Belfry, Lord Marshal Kroy
5th Sonic Glory, Rob Roy, No Culture.

The Mad Monk and Pinnochio were simply beaten by better horses on the day as was Sonar who always seems to run into one and did so again in the Rendlesham hurdle. That's the fourth time this season he's finished 2nd. Mr Prospector probably raced wider than ideal but wasn't good enough to beat Davy's horse who got back to winning ways in fine style.

Good runs also from Mr Benn under a big weight, The Bloody Nine and Bat In The Belfry.
Sonic Glory wants better going and an extra furlong. Fiddlers Anonymous and Lord Marshal Kroy will benefit from an extra furlong too.

Rob Roy got a shocker of a ride and would have made the frame at the very least given a half decent ride.

Irig, Music Hall, Downton Abbey, Golden Mile and Rudd Threetress all ran well below expectations.

Well done all winners and placers.
Good luck to you all for Cheltenham next week.
